I was laughing at someone’s board with my friend the other night and we realized that, just like Facebook and Twitter and every other social platform where people are sharing too goddamn much….ahem….there are a handful of personality types on Pinterest as well. In fact, exactly like on the other social platforms, there are users that annoy the hell out of me on Pinterest also. I know that surprises you.

The Liar

This pinner has 40 boards stuffed full of books that all say they are amazing. You did not read all of those books and if you are reading that much, you are unemployed and should get a job. ONE book board or TWO book boards, I get that, but not pages and pages full of books. No one asked you to be the Pinterest librarian and furthermore, I don’t believe all of those books are great reads. How come no one has a book board called “Books that Sucked and Stole 8 Hours From Me that I Will Never Get Back.”

Low Expectations Pinner

I’ve seen boards titled “Things I Wish You Would Buy Me” or Things I’d like for My Birthday” or whatever, it’s shit I want, but it’s filled up with gas station gadgets. Like my friend said “I feel like I’m in a Dollar Store in Chinatown.” I am tempted to buy you that crap and send it to you so you feel stupid for not asking for something better. I understand keeping the price range low to be nice to your kids, but we’re talking about a public board on the internet where strangers can view all of your wishes and desires. You honestly don’t want anything more than a plastic dreamcatcher and the tub of Jergens lotion?

I’ll Eat Anything Pinner

Food and recipes and pretty pictures of food and recipes are probably the most popular topics on Pinterest. I even have a food board and I don’t cook, and there is a good chance I will never make any of that stuff but will look at it a lot. You know, like porn. Kind of. It’s called food porn. Anyway, there are foodies that are pinning baloney (that’s right I like that better than bologna) sandwiches with special cheese and dogtopus soup 1 Hold on, I have to go make something to eat.

Infographics Crackhead

I know everyone loves them some infographics. I do too sometimes. I also get annoyed by them when the print is too small to read and the pictures don’t make sense. ALSO if I have to scroll too long on pinterest, I just stop reading. I don’t even know how 90% of the infographics I’ve looked at end because I needed to stop to find my bifocals and forgot I was looking at an infographic on Pinterest or I just got tired of scrolling. I will be glad when this fad is done. I hope we move on to holograms or something.

People that Don’t Pin Edward Norton

I had a sneaky suspicion there were an enormous amount of Edward Norton photos on Pinterest. And not all of them are Fight Club quote memes. There are pictures of Edward Norton pointing, smiling, standing there, and just looking like beat up Fight Club narrator, Edward Norton. I decided to search Edward Norton and holy crap there were pictures and pictures and boards full of Edward Norton, and you know what? There were STILL not enough Edward Norton pictures on Pinterest.

Is there room for more Edward Norton on Pinterest?

Some of you are not pinning enough Edward Norton pics and this is annoying. I may have to start an Edward Norton board. This is important.

By the way,  I am on Pinterest and I’m a great pinner. 2

Which kind of Pinterest user annoys you?

Also, let me know what you think of the new site and blog. Stuff isn’t completely put together here yet (still no header really) but will be soon.

  1. Sorry, Cari couldn’t help it. It’s a new blog, you know. Needed dogtopus links

“Books that Sucked and Stole 8 Hours From Me that I Will Never Get Back.” 8 hours?!?!? It takes me months to read a book! Months!

“I will never make any of that stuff but will look at it a lot. You know, like porn.” Hilarious!!!

    You crack me up…

Only you would catch the porn part, Fadderly. That’s why it takes months for you to finish a book. Maybe.

Hey! I accuse all kinds of people of stealing my time. They think I’m joking, but I have a list, and when I’m nearing my death I’m going to assemble an army of bloggers, authors, YouTube personalities, and all the other people who owe me precious minutes to run amok and protest things.

Other than that I hate infographics, I never thought of using Hot Dogs as other animals in food (but can’t wait to make an elephant head out of hot dogs and pancakes), people are sending me dollar store junk in the mail already (called Krap. from a guy named Klout), and I don’t pin Edward Norton, sadly. I am going to start a board with pictures of places I’ve bought gas at in Norton Virginia though, but it will probably be as empty as my other boards. I thought about making a “Check-Her” Board (which for all you literary types is a pun. It’s like Maxim magazine on Pinterest, with all kinds of image infringement), but I always tell people to be LESS creepy on the Internet. It’s ok to post pictures of hot girls on Pinterest, but it’s probably not cool when your only other pictures is of Spider man and a Vanilla scented candle.

Glad I’m not the only one that thinks infographics have gotten out of hand. I am pretty sure you’re okay with your Check -Her board (clever, btw) as Pinterest IS image infringement. No one cares because it’s Pinterest though.

LOVE the new site! And if you make that Dogtopus soup, I’ll hunt you down. How many times is that recipe on Pinterest? I don’t want to know. I spend copious amounts of time on Pinterest. Am I selective? Maybe. But I want to pin something that will actually inspire me, make me laugh, that I WILL make or that I will be able to afford in this lifetime. Otherwise isn’t it just a techy version of cutting out pictures from the Wal-mart circular and gluing them on a poster board?

    • http://www.solitarymama.com/ Christina Majaski

Yes, it is exactly the same. Except you hope other people glue your pictures on their poster board too.

Great new blog! I don’t know how you find the time to do all of this. Hey – I think you should start a blog about that! Don’t even get me started on annoying pinners! Not enough space in all the comment sections in the world!

    • http://www.solitarymama.com/ Christina Majaski

And I still have time to harass people. I think all of my blogs are about that.

Well said. “Infographic Crackhead” is my favorite. Who knew there were so many freakin’ infographics out there? 13% of Pinterest users, that’s who.

    • http://www.solitarymama.com/ Christina Majaski

We really need more supporters of the Edward Norton movement, Richard. Thanks for stopping by ;)

    Nice website, I want one.
